The Santa Fe Trail Amateur Radio Club is a general-purpose club with the goal of promoting and supporting the educational and operational aspects of ham radio through ham radio classes, on-the-air events, and hands-on activity. THE SATURDAY BREAKFAST MEETINGS ARE HELD  AT PERKINS IN GARDNER EACH SATURDAY. YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US 6:30 AM TO ~8:30AMThe monthly business meeting is the 2nd Saturday of each month. This meeting is a hybrid meeting in which you can attend in person at Perkins in Gardner or you can attend via a Zoom connection. Additionally, the club holds a Tech Night presentation via Zoom the last Thursday evening of each month at 7:30 pm. Executive Summary:

      During the April 11, 2026 meeting there was one motion. The motion was to provide $350 to Ensor. The motion passed. The website has been upgraded to Joomila 5. Other topics included ENSORFEST26 on May 9, volunteers needed for the Ensor museum in June and September; and the Tallgrass Prairie event is scheduled for April 18. Additionally, the ARRL Field Day is on June 27-28. There has been a request for volunteers to help with FIFA World Cup.     

MEETING TO ORDER:

       President George, WBØCNK, called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM CST on April 11, 2026. A total of 20 members attended the meeting. There were 16 members in person and 4 attended via zoom.

 

SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT: 

      Marty was not able to attend the meeting. A report was sent to the officers after the meeting. Jason provided a Secretary's report. 

 AGENDA ITEMS:

SFTARC Web Site Migration Update / New Features [Greg - KIØKK]

      The website migration has been completed. The last step was updating to Joomla 5 which has been completed. The update to Joomla 5 did result in one of the apps needing to be updated. This cost less than $100. The move to the new website was done to reduce hosting costs and allow us to up update to Joomla 5. 

Ensor Foundation [Marty - KEØPEZ, Jeff- KSØJD, Howard- NØAZ, Tom- WA2IVD]

      MEMO is planning ENSORFEST 26. The event is planned for May 9, 2026. There will be three bands that will come out. Some car clubs will come to show their cars. Reps from Mahaffie Farm will be present. There is a plan to have a fox hunt in the morning at Ensor. There will be two foxes. The entire event will end around 5 pm. A food truck has been organized. Volunteers are needed for this event around 8 to 10 positions. If you volunteer you get a $15 voucher for food. There is a need for people to help park cars. The Museum is open so we will need volunteers for the museum. Also, there is a need for people to sign up and volunteer to conduct museum tours in June and September. Del (KØDDS) made a motion to donate $350 to MEMO. Ben (KCØ9NBC) seconded the motion. The motion passed. 

Tallgrass Prairie Preserve Planning POTA [Jim – KØNK]

     Jim organized the Tallgrass Prairie event on April 18, 2026. The goal was to be on the air by 10 am. For those interested in carpooling, or caravaning, members met in Gardner, KS at Perkins at 5:50 am. Coordination for this event took place via email. The plan was to stop for breakfast at Beto Junction on the way down. 

Field Day Planning [George - WBØCNK]

      A Field Day sign up sheet of organizing teams was available at the meeting and will be available at future meetings and breakfasts. Greg has suggested that all the equipment needs to be tested before Field Day. George would like people to sign up for a roll on Field Day. We need people to help plan and organize field day. The May tech night will be Field Day planning. If you would like to help organize Field Day please reach out to George. 

Repeater Update [Jim – KØNK]

     Jim provided a repeater update. There are no new updates about the repeaters. 

Tech Night [George – WBØCNK]

      The next Tech Night is on April 30th at 7:30 PM. The topic is on "Grounding For Your Amateur Radio Station" by George, WBØCNK.  

Clothing and Badge Orders [Jason – KFØISL, George -WBØCNK]

      We are collecting a list of people that are interested in ordering a name badge or a shirt.

Update On Equipment from Dave Cochran, KBØVRA [Jim - KØNK]

      Jim, KØNK is gathering a team to conduct a limited item cost auction for club members in the near future - watch for notices. Ben Rocke, KC9MBC, offered to lead the team. The club is still reviewing the list of items and trying to understand what should be sold. The plan is to use this as a fund raiser. 

FIFA World CUP 2026 [Jim - KØNK]

      Jim, KØNK was asked to fill out a report on club assets. It sounds like there is a need for volunteers to help with tasks related to FIFA World Cup in KC. It is our understanding that there may be a request to have people help at one of the 9 parking lots. Around 6 people offered to volunteer. If you would like to help please contact one of the officers in the club.
