President's Corner - January, 2026

wb0cnk

Happy New Year to all! The new year is already busy for our club, with Extra Class License instruction sessions being held Saturdays, January 10th through March 7th, at the Salvation Army in Olathe. On January 24th our club will join the Kansas Day ARRL Special Operating Event. This event celebrates the day Kansas joined the Union as the 34th state. Trig, KCØRPY, is coordinating this event, so watch for emails on signing up for times and frequencies to operate, as well as viewing the ARRL Special Event Listings https://www.arrl.org/special-event-stations. Our first Tech Night of the new year is on Thursday, January 29th. The topic is on Chasing Weather Balloon Radiosondes. Quite a number of Hamfests are shown on our Club Calendar, starting with Mine Creek Hamfest on February 7th. We're forming groups who would like to travel to some of these events throughout the year, so if you are interested in carpooling or caravaning, contact an officer or join in on making arrangements. As always, if you have ideas for other club events, please let one of the club officers know.
