On Saturday, Oct 9th, 2021, the SFTARC will operate a Special Event Station at Lone Elm Park in SW Olathe, at 167th St and Lone Elm Road. Setup will begin right after the Oct 9th SFTARC business meeting, with published operating hours of 10 am to 3 pm. Frequencies of 7.280, 10.118, 14.280 and 18,080 have been published.  We expect to set up two or three stations.

In addition to being a special Event Station, KS0KS will operate as a Parks on the Air (POTA) station, being located on three POTA entities: The Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trails. In the 1800s, Lone Elm was a popular campground for those traveling west in covered wagons.

The historic portion of Lone Elm Park, where our Special-Event operation will be conducted, is located at 21151 W. 167th St, Olathe, 66062.  This historic section of the park is sandwiched between two Lone Elm sports complexes, each having their own separate entrances. Special Event participants will want to enter the park at the red arrow in the map above.  The park includes two shelters, however we may elect to set up operation from some grassy areas on the south side of the parking lot.  A modern restroom is available.

Joe, KR0UT (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), and Jim, K0NK (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), are co-coordinating the event.
